Fillers at Miramont MedSpa

As we age, we lose collagen in our face and body. The skin looks thinner, and we have less volume in our face than we once did. Injectable dermal fillers are used to replace volume that has either been lost with time or to enhance features that didn’t have much volume to begin with. Common areas to treat with fillers are cheeks, mid-face, temples, nasolabial folds, lips, and chin. There are medical and cosmetic risks to fillers, so ensure your injector has a thorough knowledge of anatomy and a lot of experience with fillers. There are a number of fillers on the market, under names such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Sculptra, and others.

Here at Miramont MedSpa, we typically use fillers made of hyaluronic acid, which means they are dissolvable with an injection of hyaluronidase. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers vary in duration but generally last 6-12 months. Repeat injections are required to maintain the results.

While nobody enjoys getting poked with a needle in the face, HA fillers contain lidocaine to make the injection process more comfortable. We can also apply a numbing cream before injection to make the process more tolerable for particularly sensitive people.

Post-injection patients may notice redness, tenderness, bruising, or palpable lumps where the filler was injected. These reactions are considered normal and temporary and should resolve with time. Applying a cold pack to the area on and off can help relieve injection-related side effects. If you feel like you may be having a complication from the filler, contact your injector directly to have it evaluated. Most people are pleased with the results of their filler, which is why they return for repeat injections!
