Microneedling

Everyone is talking about it. Many are doing it and loving it. What are we talking about? Corrective and preventive microneedling!

What is microneedling?

It is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive procedure that creates a series of microchannels in the skin, resulting in glowing, smoother, and younger-looking skin. Microneedling can be performed on its own or combined with exosomes, PRP (platelet-rich plasma), or other substances. This treatment works for fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, laxity, stretch marks, scars, collagen stimulation, acne, and more. Microneedling creates tiny holes in the skin that trigger angiogenesis, or new blood circulation, and the healing of these holes stimulates the production of new collagen.

Microneedling at Miramont MedSpa

At Miramont MedSpa, we offer corrective microneedling using an MD Pen. Before your treatment, numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. Once that does its thing, the numbing cream will be removed, and the treatment will begin. A topical serum (such as hyaluronic acid) will be applied to the skin to allow the MD Pen to glide along the surface while creating over 300,000 microchannels per minute. After the treatment, you will look and feel like you have a moderate sunburn, but it will go away within 3-5 days.

  • Day 1: The skin's red appearance will vary depending on your treatment and the depth of needle penetration.

  • Day 2: Redness or pinkness of the skin will be similar to a moderate sunburn. Swelling may be more noticeable.

  • Day 3: Skin may still be pink or have returned to normal color. Swelling will subside.

For the first 1-3 days, your skin will be very dry and may feel tight. Frequent use of a hyaluronic acid (HA) serum or other moisturizer will help alleviate this. After 2-3 days, you can return to your regular skincare products. Avoid direct sun exposure for 3-5 days and use a physical (not chemical) sunscreen. It is recommended that makeup not be applied for 12 hours after the procedure. We have skincare products at our office that we offer and recommend to help your skin heal and look its best in the days and weeks after your treatment.

Treatment Recommendations

We recommend a minimum of 3 treatments to see fabulous results, and some patients will need more to reach their desired endpoint. We offer MD Pen microneedling at both our Fort Collins and Parker offices. Call us today to schedule a consultation or treatment! We would love to help you reach your skin goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MDPen Microneedling?

MDPen Microneedling is a non-invasive treatment that uses tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing process to produce collagen and elastin. This process helps improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of scars, fine lines, and wrinkles, and rejuvenate the skin overall.

What skin conditions can Microneedling treat?

Microneedling can treat a variety of skin conditions, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation. It can also improve skin texture and tone, making it an effective treatment for overall skin rejuvenation.

How soon will I see results from MDPen Microneedling?

Results from MDPen Microneedling can vary, but many patients begin to see improvements in their skin within a few weeks of treatment. The skin’s appearance continues to improve over time as collagen production increases, with full results typically visible after several months and multiple sessions.

What about solutions for loose skin and deep wrinkles on the face?

Morpheus8 is a powerful radiofrequency treatment sometimes called "microneedling on steroids". Our "Comfort Morpheus" treatment at Miramont MedSpa is perfect for those looking to treat deeper wrinkling and skin laxity on the face and neck. Schedule a consultation to learn more.
